My sincerest condolences to Nick's family and friends. Nick and I spent many stimulating and at times hilarious moments working with the Ontario Secondary Teachers Federation District 7. I especially remember local and provincial OSSTF meetings when Nick's intellect and wit, always insightful and at times hilarious, stimulated robust discussions. His love of and knowledge of antiques led me to a lifelong love of collecting. In life, there are at times people that you feel fortunate to have met. Nick was one of those.

Dear Family and Friends of Mr. Treanor
Thinking of you and wishing you moments of peace and comfort as you
grieve and remember a wonderful man. Mr. Treanor was a wonderful
teacher of Geography at E. L. Crossley Secondary School in the 60s
who was always a perfectionist, a gentleman and an inspiration. As
a student, I remember him coming into a class very disgruntled in his
sock feet one day as some staff member had hidden his shoes during the noon
hour break when he had apparently taken off his loafers and dozed! He
did not think that it was humourous! He was always so immaculate!
Thanks for the great moments and love of geography and the love of
learning.

Shannon, Tara, Nick, Zachary, and Bebhinn,
My heartfelt condolences to all of you. When I think of your father, I think of my childhood. Your dad, and all of you, were a big part of my and my brothers’ lives. I am smiling right now thinking of all of the wonderful times we shared together. Although our lives have led us down different paths, your family has always held special place in my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time.

My sincerest condolences to his friends and family, and those from the N.A.C. who knew him. Nick has several pieces of my visual art in his 'treasured collection'. He bought six paintings back in 2001, and one collage in 2016. He was an important and formative influence on my motivation in the visual arts (one of many, to be sure), during the early years of my experience. I'll keep him and his kindness in memory, while continuing to expand in the meaning and purpose of my creative gifts. Thanks Nick, R.I.P., and Thanks for your belief in me.

I also wanted to tell all of Uncle Nick’s family how kind he was to me when I was a child. He gave me a large illustrated Children’s Dictionary that I really treasured. He and wonderful Aunt Maggie took me to my first ever movie at a theatre for my birthday. We saw “Doctor Doolittle”. He was always warm and genial when he saw us, and I enjoyed visiting both of them once they began a family. Both he and Maggie always told interesting stories, gesticulating gracefully, while my cousins read or played, or once, little Zach carried in a heavy hammer and methodically drove a four-inch nail into the kitchen floor. No one minded. I loved the warm chaos.

Thinking of you and yours and sending condolences and much love. Uncle Nicky always held a wonderful and special place in my heart. Spending Christmas each year at the farm with Grandma (Madeline Clifford), Dad and Mom (Charley and Liz Clifford) and the entire family was the best - especially since Uncle Nicky's kindnesses made it feel so welcoming. I remember one year receiving his thoughtful gift of a beautiful mustard seed bracelet. Having him at Dad's burial, gathering for a meal and going to the winery (the farm) afterwards meant a lot to us. My son Nicholas is named after him. Love you, Uncle Nicky! Heartfelt blessings to you all. OX Linda Clifford Comstock and family.

My condolences- I have fond memories of "Uncle Nicky" though I was very young, I remember when he moved the house. The desk with all the little cubbies that I loved and he told me they were for letters, as a child I was in awe. Letters! And at our father's burial in St Catharines at Victoria lawn Nicky and I shared a car and he told me stories of the farm and asked me all about being an actor and artist in New York.Lots of love and grieflove to you. - Christen (Chrissy) Clifford

Here stands Papa T at the Niagara Artists’ Centre, ever stylish and genial, he loved the company of artists and knew that art was essential to life. That is rare as was the spirit of this man.
All compassionate thoughts to the Treanor family at this time.

You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Your Dad was my father’s (Jack Clifford) first cousin. I have many happy memories of Uncle Nicky. From my father’s Christmas present to Uncle Nicky of a years worth of Playboy magazines which always makes me laugh. Uncle Nicky was always so welcoming....we enjoyed every Christmas at the farm which continued when your parents moved in.....your parent’s wedding was the first wedding that I ever attended, feeling very grown up to be included....he always had that wonderful big smile! May your memories bring you comfort! I am sorry that you are having to go through all this during this COVID pandemic, without being able to gather together. I see that Uncle Nicky will be buried in St. Catharines....if you plan a gathering then, please let me know, as I would love to meet you all again as adults. Please accept condolences on behalf of my brothers and sisters, as well as from myself and my husband, along with our children. God Bless all of you!

Uncle Nick was an excellent brother to Amy Lou at a critical time in her life. My mother left an abusive husband in a time when no one did, with no prospects but a few kind relatives, none rich. Her brother Nick paid for her tuition and books to attend first year University at Brock, full time. My mother loved it! It changed the course of her life, and our lives.
My mother continued her Bachelor’s degree part-time for years, achieved her BEd over 3 summers in Toronto, then continued into a Master’s degree. Lou, too, became a high school teacher, and this lifted her 3 daughters out of poverty. We, my sisters and I, had a very decent, frugal life, because of this jumpstart my Uncle Nick gave to his sister.
Thank you so much, Uncle Nick, for your generosity to my mother, your sister,

Literally one of the best people I’ve met in my life. When I was starting out as a young artist I heard some “collector” had purchased my art at a NAC show. Later I learned it was Nick and we became great friends over the years even though he had a lot of years on me. A true gem of a human. I hope he’s dancing at a party somewhere out there.
